Decorator Wall Cubes with Prima Iron-ons

This is one of my new additions, I bought 2 sets (stock image shown to right) of wall mounted decorator cubes - they give me a place to display art, store jars and show off some of my quirky little curios - all without cluttering my bookshelves or desk. This was something I badly needed to consider as I had so many little things all over the place I constantly had to move one thing to get to another. I... Read more →

Where Bloggers Create 2012 - Room Reveal

I'm so excited to be able to be a part of Where Bloggers Create 2012, the 4th annual blog party created and hosted by Karen Valentine at My desert cottage. Well it's over 2 months since I began my Craft Room Cleanse, in that time I've tackled projects and techniques I'd never tried before. I've sanded, painted, decoupaged, organised, thrown out and sold a HUGE amount of stuff and I adore my new space. I did end up spending money... Read more →

Revealing new room for Where Bloggers Create hop!

OK - so my Craft Room Cleanse and room revamp hit a few snags (mainly technical - thanks to my dead computer), such is life! In an effort to get back on track posting wise (trust me the posts slowed down but my room revamp didn't) I'm going to reveal my new room as part of the Where Bloggers Create party - you can join in too, just go to Karen Valentine's My Desert Cottage Blog and sign up! Don't... Read more →

Hutch Style Storage for Craft Room

OK I have this amazing space and gorgeous looking desk - I was determined to create something equally useful and gorgeous to go with it. I had been speaking in a previous post about buying a hutch - I looked high and low and couldn't find anything 'just right' for me, what I did find was too small, too big, too expensive, cost too much to ship and most of it would not make very good use of the space... Revamping Laminex Craft Desk

On my list of things to do in my craft room clean up, was altering my old brown craft desk. Don't get me wrong this desk has served me well for over 15 years now, I rescued it from a closing down office for $80 and have been using it ever since. The desk is nice and big, sturdy and has 4 drawers on one side which are nice and roomy, I like my desk - I just dislike the... Read more →

Decorator Wall Stickers and Transfers

OK - I'm back with another update, letting you know how my redecorating, remodelling, revamping of my craft room is going. After moving everything out of my desk space and having the light bulbs swapped over the first thing I did was add my wall art (you can read about where I got these on my previous post). The velvet blooms and the tree stick well, are easy to remove and didn't leave a mark when I moved and re-applied... Read more →

Craft Room Clean Up - Step 1

Here is my first update for my Craft Cleanse / Craft Room clean up - Oh my what a mess! So before I could do much of anything I needed to move my craft desk. This meant moving everything off the desk so the desk itself could be moved. You don't realise exactly how much stuff you can fit onto a desk until it's sitting on your bedroom floor - my craft room/bedroom currently looks like this. I'm continuing to... Read more →

Organising your Craft Room

I have spent the last 30 days scouring the internet, searching for storage ideas and inspiration, making decisions, sourcing items and scavenging supplies (yep me scavenging! Mrs I-Must-Have-It-Now) and I (and hopefully some of you) am now ready to put some of my plans into action. As I found out relatively quickly this task was never going to be quick or painless. Re-organising is messy, difficult, time consuming and often frustrating as you come across things that cannot be changed,... Read more →

Day 30: Decorating and making it pretty

I thought I'd plan a little decorating today. Now I cant really paint a feature wall, most of it would be covered by furniture, so when I saw these wall decalsit was perfect (I bought a few different kinds - velvet and vinyl). I bought a solid black orchid, a bird & tree and a velvet hanging vinyard bloom. They are supposed to be really easy to apply to the wall and to customise the pattern so you can fit... Read more →

Day 24: Cleaning up - no really!

While some may doubt you - so far this is what cleaning up looks like.. Desk has some new components (copic holder) but is covered with items being sorted in preparation for culling, moving and sorting. I know eeeek! Spare room has bed covered in stuff being sorted into piles for sale (no I am not able to take over this room as a craft room, my family like to sleep here). Cupboard has bags and boxes of items to... Read more →

Day 8: Confession

Hrrumph - my hubby feels that this purchase warrants a confession, since it wasn't on my pre-approved and named purchases! I ran out of my favourite card last week (ok I have 5 sheets left, but I go through it so fast that is basically running out), so when we went out yesterday, I dropped into OfficeWorks and bought some 'Yes' card 190gsm. I love it for my Lindy's Stamp Gang Backgrounds - it's nice and cheap too, at around... Read more →

Day 6: Best use of space

Today I'm looking at where to put things so they are of most use, easy to access and put in an order of necessity - eg: things I use most often are closest, things I use least in those pokey hard to reach places. To do this I needed to make a mental list (or paper if you prefer) of your space and it's most convenient and least convenient areas, plus the stuff you actually need to reach for multiple... Day 4: What's bugging me most!

So I've had a look at where I have things at the moment and the next step is to identify stuff that's really annoying me, what do I groan over every time I need to get to it, what do I really hate and importantly - is there anything that could be dangerous in my craft space? This will give me somewhere to start and I hope begin the purging and re-organising process - this will help me stick to... Read more →
