Journal Page using Lindy's Flat Shot Paints

I received a little parcel yesterday and inside were some yummy new products from Lindy's Stamp Gang, the new Under the Boardwalk Flat Shot colours were calling my name so I decided to sit down and just splash some colour around in my journal to see how they behave - and I really do mean that I splashed them around!

To Create the Background:

  1. Beginning with the Orange Dreamsicle flat shot, use a fluffy paint brush to randomly apply colour across 1/4 of the journal page surface - then while still wet close the journal so there is colour transfer from one page to the other.
  2. Add  the Raspberry Lemonade next, making sure to add a little on top of the orange coloured areas, also flick some of the colour from the brush onto your pages, to create spots and patterns - and again close the journal.
  3. Repeat this process with the Tilt-a-Wheel Teal flat shot (mop up any escaping colour with a paper towel).
  4. Finally, add the Pop Rock Purple, make sure all of the white space is covered and flick a little of any previous colours on the pages and then leave flat to air dry (this will soften the edges of some of the spots) for harshly defined edges dry with a heat gun.

When dry you will have something like this, what a wonderful background to begin a page with!

For such a dramatic page I decided to use dramatic imagery - so I stuck to stark black with some grey shading and added a bold black border.  When all of the black ink was dry - I flicked Time Travel Teal magical, across the surface for a little shimmer, it really pops against the flat colours used for the background.

You can see how gorgeous both the background and the spots of Time Travel Teal look in this close up.

I also added a little of the teal to the woman's eye and a tiny bit to the tears.

I have to say I'm absolutely lovin' the new Flat Shots and honestly they were a total dream to work on, I could even rub out without removing the colour (if I rubbed lightly!).

I hope you're all having a wonderful week and that you get to try out these new Flat Shots from the Under the Boardwalk set for yourself soon.
