Jane Davenport's Stencils: Jane Girls - Petite Series
Hi All - I've been invited to play along to launch the gorgeous (and very useful) Petite Faces series of stencils created by the even more gorgeous Jane Davenport and manufactured by the Artist Cellar. My post will go live on the tomorrow and I'm really excited about it!
Jane's first set of stencils were created to help her online drawing students, to assist them in gaining confidence and aid in getting ideas down on the page quickly. This second set is in direct response to feedback asking for some smaller faces and thus Jane Girls Petite Series was born.
To try and get a little head start, I took the stencils away with me when I went to visit my family last weekend, while I got absolutely NOTHING done (I very quickly discovered that drawing in a car is NOT going to produce something you are happy with), my nieces and nephew couldn't wait to get their hands on these and ages 8 to 13 had a total ball... The kids all gathered around the dinner table after eating and while we all chatted they swapped stencils and drew faces, they even finished embellishing a few. Now not ALL of the images below use the Petite Series faces, some are from Jane's original Jane Girl stencil set (which live in my art journal). They were so pleased I promised to share what they had done, so Billie, Charlee, Dayle and Tom - take it away...
and here are some of their results
So while these were developed to help Jane's students (and anyone else needing a little head start) this just proves that this little piece of plastic assistance is all that's needed to give someone the confidence they need to give it a try! Guess what I was asked to supply as a Christmas present this year?????
