Copic Watercolour Technique
Oooh this is fun - give it a try - a simple technique that I learned many moons ago for rubber stamps using dye inks and water - turns out it's also perfect for Copics and Blending Solution.
What I used:
- Cryogen White card
- Wild Cherry #65 Poptone card
- Eclipse Black 100 card
- Copic markers: YG45, YG25, Y19, R59, R24 & R29
- Copic Blending Solution
- Distress ink: Black Soot and Antique Linen
- Inkssentials Blending Tool with foam applicator
- Craft mat
- Unity Stamps: Insightful Meadows and Dreams
- Thin black ribbon
- Archival ink: Jet black
- 3 flat back Pearls (black)
- 3 flat back rhinestones
What I did:
- Starting with lightest colour, colour copic marker directly onto rubber surface of stamp - I like to use the chisel end. You can take your time here, but don't bother colouring too carefully. Continue colouring until stamp surface is coloured to your satisfaction. On the wide feathery flower I used Y19, YG25 & R29, on the bolder flower I used: YG45, R24 & R59.
- Spritz stamp with Copic Blending ink (I put mine in a little mini-mister for this step) and stamp image onto Cryogen White card. You will get one darker image, and if you quickly stamp again you will get a second paler image. The more you spritz the more 'bleeding' will occur with the ink, less spritzing = crisper image, more spritzing = watercolour effect - up to you which look you want. For the watercolour look 3-4 spritzes for whole stamp is enough (using mini-mister).
- Repeat step 2 with the second image (spritz and stamp).
- Clean stamps.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 as many times as necessary to add as many images as you like to the cryogen white card.
- Using foam ink applicator, apply Antique Linen Distress ink to edges of card (make sure to leave the centre white, so it spot-lights the flowers).
- Using foam applicator apply a very small amount of Black Soot Distress ink to the corners and very edges of card - be careful this is a strong colour!
- Using Distress ink Black soot, colour the smaller piece of card and stamp with 'Dreams' text stamp using black Archival ink.
- Wrap ribbon around decorated panel, adhere Dreams piece and mount onto red and black card.
- Apply some pearls or crystals to complete.
