PROCEDURE

INK METHOD 1

  1. Sponge inks (dye or pigment) onto rectangular piece of plain card – let dry overnight.
  2. Stamp over coloured inks with darker colours in dye or metallic inks and let dry.
  3. Carefully cut image into pieces resembling shattered glass and mount equal distances apart on base card.

INK METHOD 2

  1. Using White gloss card, tear low-tack masking tape into ragged edged strips.
  2. Randomly adhere these strips to the glossy side of the cardstock, making sure the pieces overlap and create 'sections' in which you can add colour.
  3. Sponge dye inks onto card – let dry overnight.
  4. Stamp over coloured inks with darker colours in dye or metallic inks and let dry.
  5. Carefully remove low-tack tape to reveal shattered glass pattern and mount on base card to finish.

LUMIERE PAINT METHOD

  1. Using White or black gloss card, tear low-tack masking tape into ragged edged strips.   You could also use Masking fluid for this step if you have it.
  2. Randomly adhere these strips to the glossy side of the cardstock, making sure the pieces overlap and create 'sections' in which you can add colour (like the Jade Women card at the top of this post).
  3. Sponge Lumieres onto card, one colour at a time and allow to dry between colours.
  4. Stamp over dry lumieres with darker colours in permanent dye or metallic ink and let dry (StazOn ink pads work well for this step).
  5.  Carefully remove low-tack tape to reveal shattered glass pattern and mount on base card to finish.

HINTS & TIPS

  • Remove tape or masking fluid carefully - you don't want to ruin your image.
  • Dye inks will fade slightly over the first 36hours after application to glossy card.  Do not mount onto base card until colour has settled as it's easy to end up with non-matching colours.
