Crayon Art Canvas with Magicals Background

Something a little different today - I'm creating an Off-the-page project using my yummy sparkly paints from Lindy's Stamp Gang. Magicals and Color Shots are amazing pots of powder paint, shimmery, intense and oh so versatile. The Magicals in particular are specially formulated to work as a paint when added to water and are suitable for use on paper, wood, canvas - basically most porous surfaces. The thing I love most about these is you can control the shimmer intensity... Read more →

Letraset Aqua Markers - yum yum!

OK - the lovely Jane Davenport introduced me to these, I couldn't resist after seeing the amazing journal art she produced with them - so being me, I ordered ahem... a few. When they arrived I stared at them and wondered what I was going to use them for - I'm not quite in Jane's league so drawing directly into my journal with these was a little intimidating. So ...... I stamped on some of my normal card and started... Read more →

Bloom Journal page

Magicals - Journal Page I was completely chuffed when Tracey (the owner of Lindy's Stamp Gang) asked each of the Design Team members to create some projects for display at CHA 2012 Winter. I've been playing with Zentangling lately so thought I'd combine my Magicals (fabulous powder paints) with some tangle inspired designs and came up with this - it's totally different from anything else LSG had on display, but I don't think that's a bad thing. What I used:... Read more →

Watercolor, Pencil and Metallic Paint Journal Page

Wow week 3 of Lifebook did my head in, I watched the clip had a small freak out and then watched it again. Our mission was to create art representing our dual nature, dark/light, heaven/earth - NOT good and evil, but look at the qualities within us that are a contradiction. Thankfully I listened to what Bonnie Rose was saying and gave myself permission to create the image of 'duality' that was bouncing around in my head trying to get... Read more →

Special Delivery using Present Fairy from Miranda's Card Creations!

You know how some projects just sort of come together without lot of fiddling - well this was one of them. I generously received this image via Paper Creations Ink Challenge Blog, provided for use by the fabulous Miranda van den Bosch and after I created the Magical Mica background - all the rest sort of fell in to place. The background led to the Copic colours in the image, I used the same colours on the flowers as I... Read more →

Wonder Woman Journal Page

WOW time sure does get away from me! I had planned on doing this journal page for almost 12 months now and this was the first weekend in a long while where I didn't have anything specific I HAD TO do, so I felt like having a bit of 'ME' time to create something just for myself. Before I go any further I MUST acknowledge that I do not have the ability to 'see' a picture in my head and... Read more →

Kate's Copic Journal Cover

This is my project for the Lovin' Lindy Blog Hop - I love the way this turned out, it really is one of my favourite projects EVER! I think what helps to make it so special for me is that I've incorporated part of my heart into this one, the images of the beautiful little boy, the soldier and the steampunk man - are all images of my much loved Grandpa, Les Swaby. He's been gone for a while now,... Read more →

Magical Watercolour Bunny: Watercolouring with Magical Micas

Ooooh this turns out so PRETTY - you're going to LOVE this way of using your Magicals! I've posted things I've coloured with the Magicals (aka Magical Micas) before, but these pieces used strong colours and were bright and popping, this little guy (Chester from Whipper Snapper designs) is soft and cuddly, so I wanted the colouring to be that way as well. To achieve this I used a technique a lot like watercolouring to colour my rabbit. I'll explain... Read more →

Haunted Halloween Card with Magical Masked Background

I loved the colours in the Haunted Halloween Magical set so much, I had make more than one card! This project sort of grew around the central image from The Greeting Farm, once I'd coloured the Anya image in, I created the rest of the card to match all with mostly the same products. I'm going to try something new with post, rather than directions for the WHOLE card, I'm just giving them for the main or Unique technique -... Read more →

Using Bleach in your crafting

Materials: Household Bleach Coloured card Water-barrel Brush Embossing powder Rubber Stamp - bold design Versamark Watermark Ink pad Procedure: Bleach stamping Bleach stamping results in an effect similar to resist but a lot less precise (or it is the way I do it!). Grab a small plate or container - the flatter the better, a kitchen sponge or piece of paper towel, household bleach, some coloured card and a stamp. Put the sponge into the container, pour enough bleach onto... Read more →

Girls Giggle

OK - anyone who has ever been to one of my classes or demos, would have seen me using at least one of the products from Lindy's Stamp Gang: Moonshadow Mists, Starburst Stains or Moonglow Embossing Powders - yes I love the sparkly shimmery rich colours I admit it! Well I was lucky enough to have the lovely Lindy ask me to make some Scrapbook pages for her, this is one of them. I was so upset to learn that... Read more →
