Mixed Media Poppy Canvas using Alcohol Inks and Soft Drink Cans

Today I am using Copic Various Inks (Alcohol Inks) to colour an unusual material and create a unique and vibrant Copic coloured poppy canvas - it's just a bit of fun today. What's the unusual material? Empty Soft drink/Soda/Pop cans, though you could use thin metal sheets or even metal coated cardstock if you have any. TECHNIQUE Using X-Press It Triple Tac Glue (or other matt glue) adhere some pretty soft coloured FabScraps papers onto your canvas. You may like... Read more →

Using Lindy's Starbursts and Magicals on Black

By now you probably know I like to customise my own embellishments, backgrounds, flowers, ribbons etc. Well with the release of so many new Lindy's Stamp Gang products over the last year I'm in total heaven. I can now create completely unique and custom embellishments for any project I'm working on and I have found I need to but far less as I just grab something in white and I can then make it whatever colour I like. For the... Read more →

Steampunked Dress Form

Today I'm sharing a recent creation, I had a huge amount of fun creating this, playing with paint, adding metal pieces, watch parts - I loved creating it and I love the finished Steampunked Dressform even more! I got a huge amount of joy from the knowledge that lots of the pieces I used on here had had a past life, been discarded, then repurposed and used by me for something completely new - adding instant history to my piece.... Kate's Copic Coloured Apple Wireless Keyboard

OK I promised more details and here they are, this was heaps of fun, relatively easy and mess free and after using it for more than 2 months now, the colours are still perfect! You can watch the whole process in the clip below or read on: The whole idea started when I saw these pins on Pinterest - a rainbow of stickers for your Mac keyboard, I followed the link to find they were no longer available. The wheels... Read more →

Crayon Art Canvas with Magicals Background

Something a little different today - I'm creating an Off-the-page project using my yummy sparkly paints from Lindy's Stamp Gang. Magicals and Color Shots are amazing pots of powder paint, shimmery, intense and oh so versatile. The Magicals in particular are specially formulated to work as a paint when added to water and are suitable for use on paper, wood, canvas - basically most porous surfaces. The thing I love most about these is you can control the shimmer intensity... Read more →

Custom Stationary Holder

Wow - I love Col's work - I mentioned him and his online business 'ColCraft' before when I had my wall mounted spray storage created and here I am again with another ColCraft creation. Now this one isn't entirely finished as I'm still mulling over it all - but couldn't wait to show you how it looks and what I'm doing with it. I've learned a great deal from this Craft Room Cleanse and one of the most important things... Read more →

Hutch Style Storage for Craft Room

OK I have this amazing space and gorgeous looking desk - I was determined to create something equally useful and gorgeous to go with it. I had been speaking in a previous post about buying a hutch - I looked high and low and couldn't find anything 'just right' for me, what I did find was too small, too big, too expensive, cost too much to ship and most of it would not make very good use of the space... Revamping Laminex Craft Desk

On my list of things to do in my craft room clean up, was altering my old brown craft desk. Don't get me wrong this desk has served me well for over 15 years now, I rescued it from a closing down office for $80 and have been using it ever since. The desk is nice and big, sturdy and has 4 drawers on one side which are nice and roomy, I like my desk - I just dislike the... Read more →

Day 30: Decorating and making it pretty

I thought I'd plan a little decorating today. Now I cant really paint a feature wall, most of it would be covered by furniture, so when I saw these wall decalsit was perfect (I bought a few different kinds - velvet and vinyl). I bought a solid black orchid, a bird & tree and a velvet hanging vinyard bloom. They are supposed to be really easy to apply to the wall and to customise the pattern so you can fit... Read more →

Day 25: Craft Room Colour Scheme

Choosing the colour scheme for my craft room - this was the easiest thing I've had to do this month. I have black storage drawer units, I have green drawer units, I have white walls and I have purple folders. So my colour scheme is black, white and green with a tiny bit of purple as an accent. This might explain why I liked this craft room so much, it's almost where I want to be... I also have kind... Read more →

Day 7: The Craft Hutch

I have decided I NEED a hutch for my desk, or at least storage with the look and functionality of a hutch! Wikipedia defines the hutch as Hutch (furniture) Now usually used to describe a set of shelves or cabinets placed on top of a lower unit with a counter and either drawers or cabinets. Hutches are often seen in the form of desks, dining room or kitchen furniture. Frequently referred to by furniture aficionados as a hutch dresser. Typically... Read more →
