Today I'm conducting a little experiment and testing 3 Minc mediums produced by Heidi Swapp - the Minc Reactive Screen Ink, Minc Reactive Mist & Metallic Texture Paste, over 3 popular brands of spray - both sparkly and not sparkly. For my test, I decided to use the extremely sparkly Time Travel Teal - Starburst from Lindy's Stamp Gang, Teal Color Shine from Heidi Swapp and the Cracked Pistachio Distress Spray Stain from Ranger and Tim Holtz. Stickles or Distress Paint Storage Idea

I hope I don't sound obsessed here, storage in a small craft space like mine is a constant challenge so I'm often on the lookout for good ideas - is it bad I saw these in a catalogue and instantly thought 'oooooh I'll have to go and look at these and see if my Stickles or Distress Paints will fit?" Sigh - always supplies on the brain... Wall Mounted Nail Polish Organiser Stepped Nail Polish Holder Perhaps we should all... Read more →

Smile Mixed Media Background Tutorial

The moment that I saw these gorgeous tissue papers from Hazel and Ruby I knew I wanted to use them on a page, so I sat down to play with a few of the newer items in my stash and this is the result - I think it would also make for an excellent 12 x 12 layout. It's only recently that I've 'found' my scrapbooking or photo page 'style' and I owe that all to Louise Nelson! I've mentioned... Read more →

Quilt Card using Scraps

This is my Rose Quilt card using scraps and offcuts from other projects. I decided to use the March Lindy's Stamp Gang Color Challenge as inspiration for this one and have chosen the soft rose pink and the dark champagne as my base palette with green as an accent. Now when I say I made this card from scraps I'm serious, I constantly have a little pile of scraps I can't seem to throw out, the end of ribbon rolls,... Read more →

LSG February Color Challenge

This month's Lindy's Stamp Gang colour challenge has colours that remind me of winter (it might have something to do with the photo for the challenge!). I decided to try a card based on a square design, with a flower in the middle and I've used the colours of pink, light blue, white and accented with gold. If you're planning on participating in the challenge this is the challenge colour combo. This is the card I've created for the challenge,... Read more →

Rainy Day Card

For my final September Guest Designer card for Sweet Nothings Stamp Co, I've chosen to use this rather cute image titled Rainy Day Sophie. She was just screaming out for something shabby chic, with a bit of sparkle - so that was what I've done. When I was little I used to love exploring in the rain - though I don't remember ever taking an umbrella! I may have gotten in to trouble once or twice while doing this he... Read more →

Distressed Starburst Background using Sweet Pea Stamp

This background technique is great for making your coloured image just leap off the page - look at how this image just 'pops'. To make this work, the key is to choose colours carefully so that the image and the background colours match. To get this right I like to colour my image first and then create the background - on this card I picked 3 colours used in the image, blue, purple and black and used these to ink... Read more →

Seriously Girly Card!

OK - something glam, something girly, something green! I wanted to test out my new Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils, so I started small. I'm still learning about lighting and where to place the highlights and shadows - but even so, I'm very impressed with these pencils - they are just soooo smooth, and my favourite thing is that they blend without pencil lines or streaks. I thought that this may also be a good time to test out the 'Glassy... Read more →
